Huawei Mate X6 in for review

This is the Huawei Mate X6 and unlike its predecessor, it will sell outside China. But is it any good? Its hardware package is certainly impressive. The Mate X6 has bigger displays than the Galaxy Z Fold6 but weighs the same 239g. The Mate X6 is also impressively thin when folded at just under 10mm (compared to 12.1mm for the Galaxy). There's a solid feel about the Mate X6. It folds with a neat clasp and unfolds with a mechanical assurance from the hinge. It's also lovely to look at in this Nebula Gray. Both displays are superb. Weekly poll results: the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is easily the most popular of the three

Last week’s poll turned the spotlight on the three new Redmi Note 14 series phones and only one of them came out as the winner. The other two may have cut too much out of the spec sheet to be competitive in the mid-range segment. Redmi Note 14 series at a glance The polls give the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ a huge lead over its siblings. The lead can only grow if the phone handles itself well in reviews (we’re working on ours). While it’s quite similar to the regular Pro, the addition of a telephoto camera (50MP 60mm), a faster chipset (Snapdragon 7s Gen 3) and the option for faster...

The Poco M7 Pro is getting official on December 17, and ahead of that we've already seen it getting a bunch of different certifications across the globe. It was also teased not once, but twice by the brand itself. Today the phone has been spotted in the Google Play supported device list, which is another prerequisite step for a launch. The listing confirms the phone's name and model number for India (2409FPCC4I), as well as its "beryl" codename. Samsung Galaxy S26 series to mark a return to Exynos

Samsung hasn't even announced the Galaxy S25 family yet and here we are already talking about the Galaxy S26 series, due to be released most likely in January of 2026. Still, a new rumor from a tipster over on X claims that Samsung aims to "significantly" equip the S26 line with Exynos chips. This follows a rumored failure to do so for the S25 models due to yield issues for the Exynos 2500 that was supposed to power them in most markets. Thus, rumor has it the S25 line will go with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite if not everywhere, then almost everywhere, while the Exynos 2500, which finally...

This is Samsung's first Android XR headset

But wait, there's more! Samsung is bringing the first headset designed for Android XR, and the device is codenamed Moohan, which means infinity in Korean. It is "equipped with state-of-the-art displays, passthrough capabilities and natural multi-modal input", and Samsung says it will be "your spatial canvas" to explore the...

Supply chain leak suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro will look weird

A while back we heard that the iPhone 17 Pro will have a rectangular camera bump, instead of the current square bump that has been used for many generations. That report also claimed that Apple is dumping titanium and is going back to aluminum for the frames. More recently, a report suggested that Apple will stick with titanium for the Pros, so the weird camera bump rumor is false... right? Perhaps not and it may be worse than we imagined. A post on Weibo shows this image and claims that it is a bare frame from the iPhone supply chain. The cameras will be in the top area with the...

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip FE will share a chipset you might not like

Samsung has apparently confirmed to Korean media that its Exynos 2500 production yields are improving, following a few months of struggles. So, the company plans on equipping both the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is also expected in 2025, with the Exynos 2500 SoC. That may of course prove rather controversial, seeing as how the Exynos chipsets' reputation hasn't been amazing over the past few years. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 It's interesting that the report says nothing about the Galaxy Z Fold7 - so maybe there's a chance it could be using a Qualcomm chip instead....

vivo to launch a new sub-brand next year

Chinese smartphone makers love to create sub-brands to cater to different areas of the market - think Redmi, Poco, iQOO, Realme. And vivo is apparently working on its next sub-brand following iQOO. The brand will be called Jovi, and if that sounds familiar it's because vivo has been using the name for its AI assistant and some other system apps. But now it looks like Jovi is all ready to grow up and become its own smartphone brand. The information comes from records found in the GSMA database (that's the GSM Association, no relation to us by the way). These show three upcoming vivo...
